Adjusted Hours and Impacts

Savannah Plains: Savannah Plains will be undergoing habitat maintenance on Friday, November 21st. Viewing of our Hartmann’s mountain zebras, East African grey crowned cranes, and our southern ostriches will vary depending on which species is given dayroom access in the Savannah Crossing building.

Mandrills: Our mandrills will not be viewable from Monday, November 17th, through to the end of Friday, November 21st, to accommodate habitat modifications.

Rainforest Aviary: The Rainforest Aviary will open at 12 p.m. on Monday, November 24th, to accommodate pool cleaning in the habitat. From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., guests are still welcome to explore the rest of the African Rainforest Building, with both entry and exit through the main doors.

Prehistoric Park Seasonal Closure: Prehistoric Park will be closed for the season from October 27th, 2025, pending favorable weather conditions.

Animal Viewing Impacts:

PETRONAS Gateway to Asia Malayan Tapir Viewing: ‘Sempurna’ and her calf will have daily access to the main indoor habitat from 10:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m. They’ll also have access to their behind-the-scenes space and may choose to spend time there, especially when the calf is nursing, so viewing isn’t always guaranteed. Thank you for your understanding.

Protecting our Birds: Updates Effective October 31
Our Animal Care, Health & Welfare (ACHW) team has downgraded our Avian Influenza threat level.

Please note the following changes effective today:

  • All birds have outdoor access if they choose and if weather permits
  • The Rainforest Aviary and the Jihad Shibley Rocky Mountain Aviary are open
  • Penguin Plunge and the Rainforest Aviary continue to have foot baths at entrances for guests to use

Our dedicated ACHW team will continue to monitor the situation and prioritize the health and well-being of the animals in our care. Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work to keep the animals we all care about safe.

Exploration Asia
The Exploration Asia Redevelopment project is officially underway! While there are some viewing impacts in the area, you can still visit many of your favourite species.

  • Species Viewable: Bactrian camels, Komodo dragons, white-handed gibbons, Malayan tapirs, red-crowned cranes, Turkmenian markhors, Amur tigers, wild boar, and Pallas’s cats.
  • Species Not Viewable: Snow leopards and red pandas have been relocated during construction, but don’t worry – these beloved species will be back in 2026. Our Dalmatian pelicans are currently spending time in their winter holding space.

West Gate Closure

Due to significant construction activities in and around Exploration Asia, the zoo’s West Gate will remain closed for the 2025 season and is expected to remain closed until at least 2028/2029. This necessary step supports the safe movement of visitors while we undertake exciting improvements to animal habitats and visitor experiences.

The Sunlight to ZOOLIGHTS combo ticket is a special offer that allows guests to visit both the zoo as of 1:00 p.m. and ZOOLIGHTS, presented by Olympia Trust Company, in a single discounted ticket.

  • 1:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Gates close at 8:30 p.m.




    IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • Please refer to the calendar below for pricing.

  • This combo ticket includes entry to the Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo starting at 1:00 p.m. and includes admission to ZOOLIGHTS starting at 5:00 p.m.

  • Guests are not permitted to leave and re-enter zoo grounds.

  • Last entry for Wild Canada is at 4:00 p.m. and last entry to all other animal buildings is at 4:45 p.m.

  • ZOOLIGHTS starts at 5:00 p.m. and activities ends at 9:00 p.m. Last entry is at 8:30 p.m.

  • Sunlight to ZOOLIGHTS is a separately ticketed event. Day admission tickets cannot be used for entry to the zoo grounds after 1 p.m. or for ZOOLIGHTS.

  • Sunlight to ZOOLIGHTS tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable. Please visit our ZOOLIGHTS FAQ page for more information on our cancellation policy.

  • Wild Journey members do not need to purchase Sunlight to ZOOLIGHTS tickets to access the zoo or ZOOLIGHTS. Members can use their complimentary tickets or discounted tickets for ZOOLIGHTS.

  • Last entry for members is 3:00 p.m., after which members require a ZOOLIGHTS ticket for entry.

  • The member admission discount does not apply on Sunlight to ZOOLIGHTS tickets.

  • Enjoy 20% off ZOOLIGHTS and Sunlight to ZOOLIGHTS tickets with Merry Mondays, available only on Mondays from November 17, 2025 to December 15, 2025.


ZOOLIGHTS is closed to the public and members on the following dates:

  • November 25th: Closed for a private event.

  • December 25th: The Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo is closed.
